This Privacy Policy explains which personal data Wandering Chaos collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have. It applies to everyone who visits www.wanderingchaos.nl, places an order or contacts us.

1. Who we are

Wandering Chaos is responsible for the processing of your personal data as described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Which personal data we collect

  • Order information: your name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number and the products you ordered.
  • Payment information: payments are handled by our payment providers. We do not see or store your full card or bank details. We only receive confirmation of the payment and limited details such as the payment method used.
  • Body measurements: for made to measure products such as harnesses, we ask for your body measurements. For chokers made in a custom length, we ask for your neck measurement.
  • Communication: the messages you send us by email or WhatsApp, or through a contact form on our website.
  • Reviews: if you leave a review, your name, review text and any photos you add.
  • Device and browsing data: technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

3. Why we use your data

  • To process and deliver your order, including making your product to your measurements, handling payment, shipping and returns. Legal basis: performance of the purchase agreement.
  • To communicate with you about your order, your measurements or your questions. Legal basis: performance of the purchase agreement, or our legitimate interest in answering your questions.
  • To meet our legal obligations, such as keeping our financial and tax records. Legal basis: legal obligation.
  • To keep our website secure and working properly and to prevent fraud. Legal basis: our legitimate interest.
  • To ask you for a review after your order. You can ignore or unsubscribe from these requests at any time. Legal basis: our legitimate interest.
  • To use non-essential cookies, only if you give permission through our cookie banner. Legal basis: consent.

We do not send newsletters and we do not sell your personal data.

4. Who we share your data with

We only share your data with parties that help us run our shop and fulfil your order:

  • Shopify, the platform our online store runs on.
  • Payment providers: Shopify Payments, Mollie (iDEAL) and PayPal.
  • PostNL and our shipping software, to create shipping labels and deliver your order.
  • Judge.me, which we use to collect and show product reviews.
  • WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to contact us through WhatsApp.

These parties may only use your data for the services they provide to us, or under their own privacy policies where they act independently, such as payment providers.

Some of these parties, such as Shopify, PayPal and Meta, may process data outside the European Economic Area, for example in Canada or the United States. Where this happens, appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

5. How long we keep your data

  • Order and invoice information: 7 years, because Dutch tax law requires us to keep our financial records for that period.
  • Body measurements: until 30 days after your order has been delivered. If you report a problem with the fit or make a complaint within that period, we keep them until the issue has been resolved.
  • Messages and emails: as long as needed to handle your order or question.
  • Reviews: as long as the review is shown on our website, or until you ask us to remove it.
  • Cookies: see the information in our cookie banner.

6. Cookies

Our website uses cookies that are necessary for the shop to work, such as keeping items in your shopping cart. Non-essential cookies are only placed after you give permission through our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your permission at any time, and you can also delete cookies through your browser settings.

7. Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have incorrect data corrected;
  • have your data deleted, unless we are legally required to keep it;
  • restrict the processing of your data;
  • object to processing based on our legitimate interest;
  • receive your data in a structured, commonly used format (data portability);
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) via autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

We take appropriate measures to protect your personal data against loss and unauthorised access. Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection and payments are handled by certified payment providers.
